Peter is responsible for the development and delivery of a wide variety of training
programmes, including overseeing the range of advanced telecoms management
training programmes offered by the Academy. His great strength is being able to link
technologies with the management skills required to address the implementation issues
Since 1999 Peter has been a business and technical trainer in fixed and mobile
telecoms. He started his training career working for the equipment vendor Ericsson,
training engineers on operation and maintenance of telephone exchange equipment. He
then spent 10 years working for a leading training provider in the UK, delivering
technical training across a range of communications technologies, including mobile
networks and fixed voice and data networks. Peter was a founding director of a
specialist telco consultancy and during his 7 years with them was involved in the design
and delivery of product training and sales enablement programs. Peter excels in in the
classroom, demystifying technical subjects and delivering highly interactive and effective
learning interventions. He has delivered training to Tier One network operators,
equipment vendors and government organisations around the world.
Peter specializes in the delivery of Digital Transformation and management
interventions and he is known for facilitating insightful moments, instilling a
transformational mindset and inspiring innovative change in people. His forte lies in his
ability to connect with people and to bring out the best in them. He trains all levels –
from managerial to director to operations levels - and is well-known for his resultsoriented approach to training which is filled with corporate and workplace examples and
case studies, customized and contextualized to the learners industry in order to catalyze
dramatic improvement in innovation and performance.
Neil Wiffen has been providing consulting and training services to a range of clients in
the mobile-cellular and wireless industries for the past 18 years. Clients include
commercial service providers, private security organisations, network operators,
government departments, and academic institutes across the UK, Europe, Africa and
the Middle East.
Experience in these arenas gives Neil exposure to the wide range of service
provisioning methods that are currently emerging and also to cutting-edge
developments in both access and core network technologies. Neil is regularly asked to
speak at key industry events and has also been called as expert witness and technical
adviser in a variety of wireless technology patent cases.

Mark Newman is a chief analyst, consultant and trainer with 25 years of experience of working with ICT service providers and their technology suppliers. His recent research has focused on 5G, digital transformation and helping both service providers and vendors to both develop and execute strategies and programs that deliver short, medium and long-term benefits.
Mark has deep knowledge of the new digital architectures, processes, capabilities and business models that enable corporations, cities and countries to transform and transition into customer-centric organisations. He delivers workshops and training programs on service provider innovation, 5G, IoT and smart cities.
In addition to his work with the Telecoms & Tech Academy, Mark is a chief analyst with TM Forum, a trade association focused on service provider digital transformation.
He is a regular speaker and moderator at international conferences in Europe, the Americas and Asia and is often quoted in the global business press. He also conducts regular briefing sessions with operators, vendors, leading banks and accountancy firms on industry trends and developments. Mark had early involvement in the development of Informa’s Telecoms Mini MBA with his development of the core Telecoms Industry Outlook module. He is a fully accredited Course Director for the programme. As well as delivering training in English, Mark is fluent in Spanish.
Senior Finance & Leadership Trainer
Alan is a Chartered Accountant with more than 20 years of experience in training of both
listed and unlisted companies including a wide variety of tier one and tier two operators
and vendors including MTN, Digicel, Vodafone, Zain and Vodacom.
Alan specialises in finance training, performance measurement and Digital Leadership
and alignment as well as advanced strategy, management and commercial acumen. He
has facilitated and contributed to a vast array of advanced telecoms management
programmes at senior manager, director and CxO level in more than 28 countries
across 5 continents and uses his informal, jargon-free style to pass important concepts
to his audience.
He is the expert at helping managers develop strategies to deal with declining margins
and reduced profits with the teams and resources they have available now. He helps
teams use financial analysis and the business case to monetise sunken capex costs
and optimise the “sweating” of existing assets to improve efficiency and profit.

Senior Telecoms Trainer
Miltos has been working in the telecoms training field since 1989. He joined Informa Telecoms Academy in 2014 and specialises in delivering training in a range of technology and business programmes. As part of the senior Analyst and Trainer community within Informa Telecoms, Miltos has a very good understanding of the changes that occur in a dynamic telecom environment.
Miltos started his career 1984 at Ericsson and later on at ASEA working with fiber optics. His career in telecommunications began in Ericsson in 1989 and continued in Greece between 1993-1997. He has participated in different telecommunication projects related to development of new telecom products and training material around the world. During this time, he acquired in-depth knowledge of mobile and fixed telecommunication systems including GSM, GPRS/EDGE, IMS, UMTS, HSPA, LTE, IoT and 5G.
Miltos’ experience in these areas include network operation and maintenance, radio interface protocols and procedures, core network protocols and procedures, RAN tuning and dimensioning, RAN features. RAN functionality, RAN design, RAN Performance and Management, HSPA technique, VoLTE, IMS, IoT 5G as well as
extensive radio planning activities on GSM, WCDMA, LTE and systems.
He has a solid reputation for explaining complex business and technical concepts to delegates - whatever their background. He has an excellent understanding of telecoms technologies and importantly – the business reasons for their deployment. He is based in Sweden.
Senior Training Professional
Grant has been a trainer with the Informa Telecoms Academy since 2007, specialising
in leadership, finance and management competencies within the telecoms sector;
delivering training as part of the management development programmes for operators
and vendors worldwide. Such programmes include the Telecoms Mini MBA and
Effective Telecoms Strategies. He is part of the team developing and delivering new
Innovation Programmes within the InformaTelecoms Academy.
Grant is a fully qualified accountant who is now a full-time facilitator, professional
speaker and trainer. He has delivered training to some of the biggest names in the
Industry including Vodafone, MTN, Etisalat, Zain, and Vodacom, as well as other blue
chip clients such as Arcelor Mittal, ABSA, Nedbank and Standard Bank, General Motors
SA, NPC Cimpor and the South African Revenue Services. He has been delivering
training for over ten years on both a public and company-specific basis, with excellent
feedback received from delegates worldwide. He is also a guest presenter at four South
African Universities and Business Schools.

Carlos De Lima
Network Specialist Trainer & Consulting Architect
Carlos De Lima has achieved multiple industry vendor certifications including extensive knowledge of Routing, Switching, Voice and Security. During the past 10 years, Carlos has served as Global IP Senior Specialist, Voice over IP Architect, Security team lead, Lead Enterprise Architect and Consulting Architect. He has extensive experience in Enterprise and Service Provider IP design for systems and solutions from IP RAN (NG RAN) through to Enterprise security endpoints.
He has been responsible for architecting the new Telco Cloud 5G software defined networking (SDN) solutions and advising on the approach to NFV for both Enterprise and Service provider clients as well as designing the Market Footprint for 5G, IoT and Network Splicing and looking into developing the B2B, B2C models for this Evolving 5G IoT segment. Carlos can seamlessly translate Business needs to Technical Requirements. Carlos presented at 5G World in London and Singapore and enlightened the audience on relevant subjects such as “Monetising 5G Technologies” and “Smart Cities”.
Carlos is the Technical Director of Generation Next Services which provides the platform to consult to numerous clients on how to strategize on future technologies such as 5G, IoT, SDN/NFV and how best to integrate them. Clients include Telefonica, Engage ESM, ITGL, Cisco and GLG research.
