Dave Mcnally (Senior Trainer: Head of LTE & Advanced Communications Portfolio)
Dave has worked in the telecoms training field since 1996 and has been full time at Informa Telecoms Academy since 2004 where he now heads the development and delivery of the LTE and Advanced Communications portfolio. As part of the senior Analyst and Trainer community within Informa Telecoms, Dave has built a very solid understanding of the telecoms business, strategy, and industry dynamics. He is a lead Programme Director for the Telecoms Mini MBA series and has led the course internationally with excellent feedback received from a number of operators, vendors and regulatory professionals.
His career in telecommunications began in 1986. He then worked with Cable and Wireless as a subsea transmission engineer for 8 years where he developed skills as a senior subsea ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) engineer.
Dave has worked for a number of top telecommunication training companies in the UK. During this time he acquired in-depth knowledge of mobile and fixed telecommunication systems including GSM, GPRS, UMTS, HSPA, WiMAX, and LTE. Dave’s experience in these areas include radio interface protocols and procedures, core network protocols and procedures, as well as extensive radio planning activities on WiMAX and LTE systems.
He has a solid reputation for explaining complex business and technical concepts to delegates – whatever their background. He has an excellent understanding of telecoms technologies and importantly – the business reasons for their deployment.
One of his main areas of focus within the Telecoms Academy is to pioneer new ways of helping delegates to understand technology concepts through the use of tools and innovative methods.
